الجرائم الإلكترونية و مستوى الوعي بخطورتها : دراسة ميدانية على عينة من الشباب الجامعي الأردني

Abstract EN

The study aimed to investigate the cybercrimes in terms of the awareness of its danger and penalties among the Jordanian University students at Al-Balqa applied University (princess Rahma College).

It also aimed to explore the habits and patterns of Internet use among youth in general and whether there were any differences that can be attributed to gender, major, and academic year in particular.

The sample of the study consisted of (212) male and female students who were selected randomly and were tested on October 2019.

To achieve the goals of the study, a questionnaire consisted of (43) items was constructed.

Further, the descriptive methodology and the social survey were used with sampling technique in addition to the use of the descriptive statistics (percentages), T-test and One-way ANOVA.

The results revealed a very low average of the students’ exposure to cybercrimes.

Further, 39.15% of the students spent around two to less than four hours on the internet.

The results also showed that Facebook was the most frequently used social platform (49.06%) and (43.40%) of the students used social platforms for entertainment purposes.

In addition, the students showed a very high average of awareness of cybercrimes.

The study recommended raising the awareness of the students on the importance of investing their time while using the Internet to develop their skills, activating sports, cultural, and recreational activities, to attract young people and thus to reduce the addiction to social media sites.

It further recommended holding lectures which aims to raise the awareness on the dangers of the cybercrimes.
