Abstract EN

This study aims at tracing the history of Suakin at the Ottoman era.

Second, it aims at understanding the success of the Ottomans in controlling this important strategic historical city.

Third, it tries to explore their achievements during their administration as well as the relation that relates with its local, regional and international levels.

This study also scrutinizes the relations of the ottomans with the Funj in Suakin, Mohammad Ali Pasha as well as exploring the witnesses of explorers visited Suakin.

The significance of this study emerges from the its endeavor to understanding the Ottoman existence in Suakin, its nature and its impact on the city on the one hand and the Red sea on the other amidst hot conflicts to control the city.

This study followed the descriptive -analytic approach.

The study achieved several findings the most important of these were; Suakin was and still attracting the attention of international powers due to its historical, strategic and geographical importance.

Suakin also undergoes different periods of prosperity and weakness respectively.

However, this historical city has preserved its glamour through ages.

The city represent a bridge of communication between the east and the west as well as being an indispensable port in the regional and the international navy.

Last but not least, Suakin an important and strategic part in the security of the Red Sea and the state of order in a world severely conflict over controlof ports and coastal cities.
