English Abstract

This study deals with the topic of Islamic Sufism and its role in the countries of the Red Sea basin in general, and in the country of Sudan in particular, and studies its cultural impact in this region.

This study aims to define the term Sufism and its derivation, with an indication of its cultural impact in the countries of the Red Sea basin, and also to determine the way it comes to Sudan, and the cultural role of Sufi groups and their sheikhs, while enumerating the impact of cultural Sufism in Sudan, and then mentioning examples of Sufis sheikhs who influenced Sudan.

In this study, the researcher used the historical descriptive method.

The study reached a number of results, the most important of which are: Sufism is authentic in Islam, but it was not known as a separate term as it is today.

There is a link in the origin of Sufi groups in the Red Sea basin in Ethiopia, Somalia, Egypt, Yemen and Sudan, and it has a great cultural impact.

The paper made several recommendations, such as: setting up a center for Sufism studies, with the establishment of a conference for Sufi groups in the countries of the Red Sea basin to unite the word of Muslims.
