Abstract EN

With the arrival of the Greek atomic theory to the Arab and Muslim naturalists (physicists and chemists), they tried to move the issue from the religious field in which theo-logists had long debated to make it an issue for research in the domain of nature and natural philosophy; this is what the advocate of peripatetic philosophy such as Ibn Sina did besides to prominent figures who took an independent line like Al-Biruni and Abu Al-Barakat Hibatullah Ibn Malak Al-Baghdadi.

Atomic theological philosophy and intellectual disputes discussed by Muslim theologists and philosophers had paved the way for natural scientists.

They in fact took a general conception of the atom notion and they, at the time, had to practically verify the statements of philosophers from different schools.

That is to say, those who assumed the atom is divisible or those who thought otherwise, meaning indivisible.

This means it was the beginning of submitting nature to scientific reasoning.

On these bases, this research aims to explore the atomic theory as formulated by Arab naturalists from the 9th century to the 14th AD adopting the historical method.
