Abstract EN

The present paper tackled primarily the development of the agricultural sector in Algeria, specifically plant production during the period of support and reform (2001-2015).

It dealt also with the impact of plant production on food industry, through the developments of agricultural production, such as wheat, legumes, potatoes, dates, tomatoes and citrus during the period (2000-2014) that meant to fuel the food industry in Algeria with the necessary raw material.

The study revealed a weak production in the Algerian food industry, which represents one third of the total value of the manufacturing industries throughout the early mentioned period; despite the huge amounts devoted to support the agricultural sector, programs and allocations.

The study concluded that the development of food industry requires innovation of the agricultural sector through well-premeditated strategic plans, as this latter sector supports industry.

Moreover, the need to introduce modern technologies in both sectors is imperative to keep their outputs abreast with modern technologies to achieve growth and developmental goals.
