Abstract EN

The study aimed to investigate experts' perceptions about including historical fields in history at books in Saudi public education.

the study followed the qualitative approach - the method of the grounded theory.

the semi-structure interview questions were used to collect data, and it included (4) questions, and the validity and reliability values needed for the tool were verified.

(14) experts in the fields of history and educational history from Saudi and Arab universities participated in answering the interview questions.

the experts ’perceptions revealed the experts’ clear and deep perceptions towards including historical fields in history books, and the study concluded the most important historical fields to be included in history books, which are: the religious field, the social field, the political field, the economic field, the military field, the scientific field, and the civilizational field, respectively.

experts ’perceptions showed that there are several influencing factors in planning to include these fields in the history at books, such as the size and quality of the goals to be achieved, and the writing of history at books by national experts in the fields of history and educational history in saudi universities in cooperation with the curriculum department in the saudi ministry of education, the logical and psychological sequences of presenting historical events, and qualifying teachers to teach history according to the approach of learner-centered learning.

the experts' perceptions cleared some of the difficulties facing the inclusion of these historical fields in history books, the most severe of which are: the low interest in history and its fields, the limitation of including the history content in units within the social studies and citizenship textbooks, the reduction of history lessons, the study showed that these difficulties and challenges can be overcome by incorporating the historical education subject independently in the stages of saudi public education, and building a matrix of extent, succession and integration of historical fields in the history books in the stages of saudi public education so that it includes all the historical fields sufficiently commensurate with the importance of history in line with the age and educational characteristics of students,.

the study reached some conclusions, recommended some recommendations and made some suggestions.
