Abstract EN

The purpose of this study is to identify the types of heritage tourism attractions in Sudan.

the study also aims to identify obstacles to the development of tourism in the country.

additionally, the study aims at setting vision, approaches, and strategies to develop heritage tourism in order to contribute effectively to sustainable tourism in Sudan this study applied the integrated geographic structural approach, employing both inductive and deductive methodology.

the researcher used ob-primary sources of information.

the researcher also utilized reports, references, and previous studies as secondary sources of information.

the study used the statistical method to analyze the data and to draw conclusions and recommendations.

the study found that despite the abundant endowment, the heritage tourism attractions are extremely underutilized in Sudan.

the study recommended that policy makers should include the development of heritage tourism as a priority in the country economic plans because it has potentials to support economic and social development in the country.

the study recommended that officials at the federal and state levels of government to encourage handicrafts, heritage industries and folk arts to attract tourists.

the study also recommended complementarily roles and coordination between the federal and state authorities to initiate events and activities for indigenous communities in each state
