Abstract EN

Objective : To evaluate the volume of the residual pneumoperitoneum after laparoscopic cholecystectomy and its consequences on post-operative abdominal and right or left shoulder pain.

Methods : A study was carried out on 45 patients aged between 19 and 65 years undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy for symptomatic cholelithiasis.

Upright posteroanterior chest radiography was performed for all patients.

Results : Post operatively, the type of analgesic consumption, and the intensity of the abdominal and shoulder pain were assessed in the first 24 hours with visual analogue scale (VAS).

Conclusion : It was found that the severity of the abdominal and shoulder pain was directly proportional to the volume of the residual pneumoperitoneum.
