Abstract EN

This papser is concerned with some of the methodological issues raised by the use of the concept of theory in political science in general, and comparative politics in particular.

This paper deals with three aspects of this subject: 1- The paper distinguish between empirical theory and normative theory.

The paper also discusses the role of empirical theory in raising the level of scientific knowledge in political science.

2- The paper tries to clear some of the confusion surrounding the relation between empirical theory and other concepts.

In this regard, the paper foucuses on the distinction between the concept of theory and other concepts which are confused with the concept of empirical theory in the literature of political science like the concept of method, model, and many other concepts.

3- The paper discusses the difficulties facing political science and comparative politics in their attempt to build empirical theory or theories about political life.
