The topic of alexithymia is one of the modern topics, that have not taken much research area and effort by researchers in various branches of psychology, as well as from the psychiatry.

despite the abundance of studies and their accumulation in the scientific heritage of this topic, a wide debate about the nature of this concept has been raised.

it has raised many questions.

therefore, this research paper has come for the sake of researching and investigating the concept of alexithymia through presenting a set of different definitions of a number of features of alexithymia, that explain the concept with reference to the differences between these definitions, besides highlighting their components and types.

the article discusses also some different theoretical trends and approaches about the origin of alexithymia.
