The challenges of teaching legal English at university of Oran 2

Abstract EN

The aim of this study is to evaluate the English for specific purpose (ESP) course offered to law students enrolled in university of Oran 2.

the paper aims to explore the teaching-learning process of ESP through examining the views of teachers and students.

to achieve the objectives of this study, data were collected through the use of focus group discussions and semi-structured interviews as qualitative research instruments.

after gathering the data, thematic analysis was used as a data analysis technique.

the findings indicated that ESP in the faculty of law faces lot of pedagogical challenges that inhibit the teaching of ESP courses.

therefore, we suggest the importance of a comprehensive needs assessment with the aim of adapting the existing ESP pedagogy in Algeria to suit students' needs, expectations, and academic requirements.
