Abstract EN
ALUM, Activated Charcoal, Aquamira, Polar Pure and PUR are five water treatment agents were tested in vitro for their efficiency of purifying different types of raw water resources.
Water samples were collected from three different resources; shallow groundwater, River Nile water and Rahawy drain water.
Physico-chemical (e.g.
pH, alkalinity, EC, TSS, turbidity, cations, anions and trace elements) and microbiological (e.g.
total coliform bacteria (TC), fecal coliforms (FC), fecal streptococci (FS), Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and total fungal count) analyses were conducted at laboratory scale.
The raw and treated water samples were analyzed and the removal efficiency was calculated for each product.
The results indicated that Aquamira was effective for treatment of groundwater, while PUR was effective for treatment of Nile water and Activated Charcoal was effective for treatment of drain water.
