Abstract EN

This study examines the features of the directives strategy in Sheikh Al-Ibrahimi's speech, by extrapolating and analyzing a set of examples mentioned in the Al Ibrahimi’s articles, from the perspective of the pragmatic approach and theory of speech acts.

It also shows the writer’s reliance on lin uistic elements, and employing the rank of the speaker in issuing directions, and the impact of this on the behaviour of the two addressees.

The aim is also to highlight the rationale for the use of the directives strategy, and the relevance of the actions to situations.
