The study seeks to show the extent to which scientists in the Egypt and Tunisia responds to the modernization movement that have emerged in 19th Century by following the Pro and oppositions reactions of El Azhar and Zaytouna sientists as they represent the most prominent society groups that affect the public.

In addition, it attempted to assess the credibility of those positions and their impact on the development of modernist thinking in Egypt and Tunisia.
