Abstract EN
Objective : Assessment of a relatively simple surgical procedure, which can be applied either under local or general anesthesia, for excision of antrochoanal polyps (ACP).
Methods : Fifteen patients (nine males and six females) were diagnosed to have antrochoanal polyps.
The procedure consisted of antral puncture and evacuation of the cystic fluid by aspiration from the affected maxillary sinus ; followed by unilateral polyp removal using avulsion nasal snare either through the nose or the oral cavity.
Results : Complete excision of ACP was achieved in all patients with no recurrence at mean follow-up of 2 years.
Conclusion : Antral puncture and aspiration of the cystic fluid followed by avulsion of the polyp is a simple, safe and effective procedure to be performed for the treatment of ACP.
