Abstract EN

This paper presents translations of the most important legal texts organizing judicial translation in Algeria during the French occupation of Algeria.

It shed light on the different legal situations of the interpreter/translator in this field, as well as the denominations and prerogatives granted to him within the framework of practicing his profession.

It explains the conditions of admission and practice of the profession, the rights and salary perceived by the translator/interpreter as well as the institutions that supervise judicial translation and interpreting.

These texts constitute reference documents to study judicial translation in Algeria and evaluate its different aspects in order to beneficiate from them by contemplating the profession present and past so as to expect what should or must be in future.
