Since 2014, national service has been governed by law n°14-06 of August 9, 2014 repealing the provisions of ordinance n°74-103 of November 15, 1974 on the national service code which are contrary to it.
Defined as the participation of citizens in national defense, national service is intended to meet the needs of the People's National Army.
It is understood by participation in national defense, the accomplishment of the missions devolved to the National People's National Army by the Constitution and related to the safeguard of national independence, the defense of national sovereignty, as well as the preservation of the unity of the territorial integrity of the country

Depuis 2014, le service national est régi par la loi n°14-06 du 9 août 2014 abrogeant les dispositions de l'ordonnance n°74-103 du 15 novembre 1974 portant code du service national qui lui sont contraires.
Défini comme étant la participation des citoyens à la défense nationale, le service national est destiné à répondre aux besoins de l'Armée Nationale Populaire Il est entendu par participation de la défense nationale, l'accomplissement des missions dévolues à l'Armée Nationale Populaire Nationale par la Constitution et liées à la sauvegarde de l'indépendance nationale, la défense de la souveraineté nationale, ainsi que la préservation de l'unité de l'intégrité territoriale du pays
