When a constitutional amendment contributes to the enrichment of the legal system in the country, it lays the foundations necessary to ensure the elements of strengthening the principle of citizenship, especially with the space that human rights demands occupied in the public space that preceded the processes of amending constitutions after the 2011 Arab movement, including Algeria after the February 22, 2019 uprising.

the protest movements campaigned from demands, which focused in part of their discourse on demands related mainly to rights and freedoms, and on considering the supreme goal of achieving the rule of law, which considers citizenship as one of the highest degrees of belonging to it.

this paper attempts to clarify the most important aspects of the effect of the constitutional amendment in Algeria on strengthening the principle of citizenship, and the extent to which this principle has given the necessary attention and care compatible with the rise of the concept of citizenship in Algeria at this important stage in its history, with all its connotations at the official level as well as at the level of the elites, and an attempt to drop that on the reality of the Algerian constitutional experience and the actual.
