Abstract EN

The present paper aims to study the literary play “Aalim Wa Taghiya” written by Yusuf al-Qaradawi.

This historic play is full of various creative factors.

Dr.

Yusuf al-Qaradawi is a preeminent Egyptian scholar.

He has received many international prizes for his contributions to Islamic scholarship; he is considered one of the most influential scholars of our time.

Few scholars have an idea that he started his literary journey as a poet and play writer.

He wrote two plays touching the moments of Islamic history known “Yusuf al- Siddique” and “Aalim wa Taghiya”.

Historical play transports readers to another time and place, either real or imagined; the genre offers a fiction writer many opportunities to tell a wholly unique story.

This paper attempts to reveal the artistic valuesin “aaliam wa Taghiya” examining the relationship of the play to narration, description and dialogue.

It also examines the characters as depicted by the writer despite that most of the characters are being historical.
