Abstract EN

The research mainly aimed to identify the relationship between exposure to new media and social alienation among young people in Matrouh governorate, through: describing levels of social alienation for young respondents and its sub-themes, and finally, identifying the variables associated with and affecting the degree of social alienation among the respondents.

data were collected from (330) youth in al-Salam village, al-Hamam, district Matrouh governorate.

using some statistical analysis tools such as the arithmetic mean and standard deviation in the display and describe the data as well as the chi square test and Pearson correlation coefficient and simple analysis stepwise regression to test the correlation.

the most important results: there is an abstract relationship at 0.01 level between there is a positive significant correlation at the 0.01 probability level between the degree of exposure to communication sites and the measure of social alienation with its sub-dimensions.

the presence of four independent variables contributing to the interpretation of the total variation in the degree of social alienation of youth respondents show and these variables are: family cohesion, standard of living, the ability of communication, participate in making household decisions, and by reference to the value of the coefficient of determination R2, worth (0.536) it is clear that the previous four independent variables explain about 53.6% of the variation in the degree of social alienation of youth respondents.
