Abstract EN

The study aims to identifying the elements of the Sudanese standard for the National Library and the Arab indicators for measuring the performance of national libraries, as well as the difficulties that hinder the application of these standards in Sudan.

The study used the descriptive analytical method.

The observation was also used as a tool to collect data The study concluded that the Sudanese standard has set standards.

For buildings, hardware, software, furniture, manpower and collections development, organized and information services.

As for the Arab indicator, it dealt with the coverage of collections, the comprehensiveness of the national bibliography and the effort exerted to preserve the national heritage.

The building standards were the main difficulties due to the weak budget for its implementation, as well as the failure to update the deposit law and the lack of information technology to digitize national heritage.
