Abstract EN

The research aims mainly to study the relationship between consumer patterns and family compatibility among university youth.

The data was completed through the application of the research tools, which are represented in the general data form, consumer patterns questionnaire, the family compatibility scale, and it was applied to a basic sample of (153) university youth in the New Damietta city, were chosen in a purposive way from different social and economic levels, and the study followed the descriptive analytical approach.

Among the most important results of the study: The majority of the research sample with 53.6% of the research sample have an average level of total consumption patterns, and there is a statistically significant between consumption patterns and the average monthly income of the family at the level of significance of 0.01, while there is no statistically significant between consumption patterns and each of the number of family members, the method of obtaining the expense, It was also found that there was no significant differences between family compatibility and both (average monthly income - number of family members - method of obtaining the expense).

It was found that there were no statistically significant differences in the research sample in the total consumption patterns and family compatibility according to gender "males and females", also there is a statistically significant correlation between the family compatibility and the "moderate" consumption pattern at the 0.01 level of significance, while it was found that there was no statistically significant correlation between the family compatibility and both (the ostentatious consumption pattern, the destructive consumption pattern, the total sum of the consumption patterns).
