This study aimed mainly at examining the experiences of endowments (Waqfs) in three selected Saudi universities and analysing the most important models adopted by the endowment (Waqf) investment managements in these three selected universities, including their organizational and administrative structures, investment methods, and practical applications in the use of endowed funds.
It also evaluated the experiences of these selected universities by comparing their performance indicators.
The descriptive and analytical approach was used to evaluate the investment policies applied by the endowment (Waqf) departments in those universities.
The study relied on the interview method to collect the necessary data about the universities’ Endowments (Waqfs); a series of semi-legalized questions answered by six endowment officials at three selected pioneer Saudi universities were presented.
The findings of the study confirmed the importance of the role of endowment in providing funds to support the educational process in universities in various fields, and the multiple educational purposes.
This study has indicated the pioneering role of the three Saudi universities in the field of educational endowments, their excellence in managing endowments and employing them in support of scientific research, researchers and students.
The study demonstrated the conventional methods of investing endowment properties practiced by the endowment managements at King Saud University and King Abdulaziz University, at a time when the endowment investments of King Fahd University were diversified, and the management of its endowments began with the most contemporary practices in the field of investment and finance.
