The present work is devoted to investigate compressor performance (positivedisplacement or dynamic compressor) from two different points of view that are; energy and exergy.
The studied compressor parameters are; compressor polytropicefficiency, compressor pressure ratio, inlet temperature, and inlet humidity.
Theeffect of these parameters on compressor specific work consumption, compressoroperating range, energy destruction, energy destruction ratio, and the first and secondlaw efficiencies are demonstrated.
The results show how the compressor behavesunder different conditions.
Also, the results illustrate that first and second lawefficiencies provide quantitative and qualitative compressor performanceassessments.
The result charts help in selecting different types of compressors thathaving higher second law efficiency or having less exergy destruction ratio.
Thepresent paper may give an insight to understand deeply compressor performance andhow to evaluate or choose the compressor with less exergy losses ratio.
