Abstract EN

This research comprises valuable quotes of Abi Obaid al-Bakri, taken from Abi Mohammed al-Hamdani,some of which constitute a valuable portion of his lost books .

While he was in Al-Andalus , not far from the time of al-Hamdani , al-Bakri made an investigation and consideration of these quotes which proves a significant evidence of al-Hamdani's early acquired fame and reputation in those lands.

Another evidence is the scholars' keenness and interest of his traces.

So, these scholars did their utmost in search of his works.

Despite the far distance and the lack of means , efforts were made in trace of al-Hamdani's works in the far corners of Yemen .

al-Iklil (crown ) is perhaps al-Hamdani's most prominent valuable that acquired a widely spread fame over distance.

His precious works had reached Al-Andalus even before reaching certain parts of Yemen.

This is probably because of adversarial environment among the people in which uneducated people were mostly dominant.

Additionally, quite a lage number of Yemeni people, at those times, had little estimation and appreciation to the importance of the learned.

Such defects were pervasive among the people.

Furthermore, Yemen was mostly ruled by foreigners who encouraged impudent poets to underestimate al-Hamdani and al-Qahtaniah.

Even more, the prides of the Yemeni people in relation to Islam, had only been exclusively attributed to al-Adnaniyyah rather than being advocates of Islam for which they had fought against the infidles of Quraish until people embraced Islam willingly or unwillingly .

It is to be noted that is the most prominent figure who fought the crooked tendency of the foreigners .

He made efforts to revive the glories , prides and heriditaries of the Yemenis .

He also made considerable efforts to write about the abandoned descents and ansestries .

In his works , emphasis had been made on kings and kingdoms , nobles and notables as they were the first to advocate religion (Islam ) and exalt its standing.

They could move the people of Quraish away from the worship of pagans to the worship of God ,Allah , the Almighty .

There had been a number of battles , fights and incursions which ultimately led to the conquer of Makkah after which large numbers of people embraced Islam .

The research is divided into three parts: Preface, Quotes and Conclusion In the preface, sources of quotes are presented as well as the quoting approaches followed by al-Bakri.

Quotes are divided into three parts : the lost quotes, the similar and identical to the contents of al-Hamdani's books.

Each part is demonstrated with commentaries as much as possible .

In the conclusion , findings are demonstrated with the results of ( ninety-six quotes ).

The research comes up with findings which I regard as new and useful .
