تهدف الدراسة إلى استجلاء الأبعاد النفسية التي وجهت أشعار محمود درويش في العقد الأخير من حياته و تحليلها بدراسة ظاهرة الثنائيات الضدية في شعر "محمود درويش" ممثلة بثنائية "الحياة و الموت"، وتوضيح رؤيته تجاههما، وذلك باستقراء أعماله الشعرية في هذه الحقبة.
وتوصلت الدراسة إلى النتائج الآتية: كان لأحداث الطفولة و خبراتها التي تعرض لها "درويش" و الهجرة القسرية إلى جنوب لبنان عام 1948 خاصة تأثير على تعبيره عن حياة المنافي و الشتات.
و كان للحالة النفسية التي سيطرت عليه بسبب حالتة الصحية و هاجس الموت الذي لاحقه في الهزيع الأخير من عمره تأثير على أشعاره مما غلف بعض قصائد بالقتامة و الكآبة.
و وظف"درويش" الثنائيات الضدية المرتبطة بالموت و الحياة مثل ثنائية القاتل و القتيل، و ثنائية الخصب و الجفاف، و ثنائية الوطن(الحياة) و المنفي(الموت).
و أثرت الحالة النفسية التي كان يمر بها "درويش" في هذه المرحلة في الانتشار الواسع للألفاظ و المفردات الدالة على الموت.
ووظف "درويش" جميع أدواته الفنية و اللغوية و الفكرية لمواجهة حالة موته الفردي وحالات الموت الجمعي لشعبه و التغلب عليهما نفسيا، ثم إنزال الهزيمة بهما

The Opposite Dualities in Mahmood Darwish's Poetry: the dualityof Life and Death.
(A Psychological Reading) This study aims at clarifying the psychological dimensions guiding Mahmood Darwish's poetry in in the last decade of his life by studying the Opposite Dualities in his poetry: Life and Death as an archytype, and his vision of life and death by surveying and and analyzing his poems in this decade.
The study has got many results, some of them are: childhood events had big impacts on expressing life of Palestinians in exile.
Darweesh's suffering from bad health and obsession of death controlling him in his last decade covered many of his poems with darkness and gloominess.
Darweesh employed opposite dualities relating to death to express his vision manipulating all his technical, linguistic and thinking tools to face his individual death and mass cases of death of his nation.
Finally, a large number of vocabulary relating to death have spread in his poems in this era.
