he event of AlGhadeer represents an end of an era and a beginning of another new era; that is, the end of prophecy and beginning of Imamate and Caliphate.

Thus, the messenger completed and accomplished what he was required to achieve, and had performed all religious teachings, and when he declared the one who would come after him in a public event as imam and caliph, he declared the completion of his message.

Hence, the new era of imamate has started and the approval of al-Ghadeer was the starting point of the declaration of caliphate that would complete the mission of religion that was initiated first by prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him).

This paper attempts to address the significance of the declaration of Ghadeer Khum, where the imam, who represents the shadow of God, is nominated by the prophet and approved and accepted by Ummah.

The study is divided into three sections: the first tackles the divine preparation of imam and caliphate, the second deals with declaring and crowning the imam, the third focuses on the duties of Islamic Ummah towards the imam and keeping the prophet's will.

The present study is based on the hypothesis that imamate in Al-Ghadeer Pledge of Allegiance represents the end of an era and he beginning of another new era.
