The aim of this paper is to discuss the translation of young adult literature.

thus, it seeks to establish a working definition for young adult literature as separate from children’s literature as well as adult literature, in addition to its position according to the polysystem theory.

this paper attempts to identify and analyse the common themes and features of young adult literature.

furthermore, it examines their implications regarding the translation process.

the concepts of equivalence vs.

loyalty, domestication vs.

foreignization, the functional approach, and adaptation are discussed, as well as the translation strategies that might prove useful in tackling the translation of young adult literature and its issues.
