Abstract EN

The Hadith of Ibn Abbas is a Hadith mentioned by Imam Muslim in his Sahih, and it is one of the well-known Hadiths in its meaning and its legal ruling, which represents the effect or non-effect of the triple divorce for those who utter it three times simultaneously or individually in one council.

Scholars show disagreement regarding its criticism and ruling.

Almost all scholars came across this Hadith and dealt with its text and chain of narrators as it is one of the most important fundamental Hadiths in its meaning, and the Prophet (may peace and blessings of Allah's peace and be upon him) gave a judgment based on this Hadith, and then Omar Ibn Al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, gave another judgment due to the different conditions of people.

It is apparent from the meaning of the Hadith that the triple divorce is considered as one for those who utter it in one council but the right ruling is that the triple divorce should be regarded as three separate utterances of divorce.

As for the ruling of its chain of narrators, some critics have their own opinions.
