Most countries have become committed ensuring the activation of participatory democracy, as a modern management method that includes all aspects of public life and issues of public development.

partnership between local authorities and citizens is based on ensuring the right to obtain information and strengthening the effectiveness and efficiency of public policies with the aim of improving the standard of living for individuals in various fields.

this article discusses the following problematic : is participatory democracy adopted in Algeria as a method for managing local development affairs ? by giving a concept of participatory democracy, then analyzing its reality through legal texts, as well as through the Algerian experience of a sample of ten municipalities.
