Abstract EN

The current research aims at exploring the relationship between psychological flourishing, self-esteem and adaptation to university life among a sample of Qatar university students.

It also aims to identify differences attributed to gender, academic year, marital status, and interaction between them on the research variables.

In addition, the study aims to test the ability of psychological flourishing and self-esteem to predict adjustment to university life.

Sample of the research included 329 students.

Instruments of the research included a flourishing scale (Diener et al., 2009), Rosenberg’s self-esteem scale (1965) and an adjustment to university life scale (Baker & Siryk, 1989).

Results show a statistically significant positive relationship between psychological flourishing, self-esteem and adjustment to university life among the research sample.

Results also show statistically significant differences attributed to gender in the personal, emotional adjustment dimension, in favor of males and statistically significant differences attributed to marital status on academic adjustment, attachment to institution, and the total score of adjustment to university, self-esteem and psychological flourishing, in favor of married university students.

Finally, results show the ability of psychological flourishing and self-esteem in predicting adjustment to university life.
