Abstract EN

This study aimed at revealing the level of perception of the concept of illiteracy and its types among male and female students at King Saud University in Riyadh city, the study used a destructive and analytical method.

the study sample consisted of 449 male and female students.

a questionnaire consisting of 32 items on four sections including the concept of illiteracy, the concept of civilization illiteracy, the concept of digital illiteracy, and the concept of emotional illiteracy (eight items per section) has been distributed.

the results showed that the level of perception of the concept of illiteracy and its types among the students of the university was (average) as well as in the concept of civilization illiteracy.

also, the concept of digital illiteracy and emotional illiteracy were (average) as well.

the results showed statistically significant differences attributable to the educational stage variables and the colleges where the students study for the doctorate students and the students of science colleges.

however, the results showed statistically significant differences in gender for female students and did not show statistically significant differences in the GPA variable
