Abstract EN

When writing a piece of literature, authors utilize aesthetic tools that reference to a certain art movement.

In Metamodernism, these authors use many new artistic elements that correspond to the Metamodern values to address the Postmodern irony that nullifies seriousness and sincerity from literature.

This issue is important because Postmodernism denies literature from any form of truth, especially through irony.

Hence, contemporary progressive literary thinkers are attempting to reconstruct truth by adopting new aesthetic tools in the novel such as “postirony”, “new sincerity” and “empathy” to promote the Metamodern rejection of the Postmodern literature.

Besides, these literary tools are also used to serve the Metamodern cause of reconstructing arts and society.

This new trend in literature is shown to have a significant influence on the novel and in turn on the reader and society.
