The effects of Depleted Uranium (DU), which used in the war 1991 in the southern region of Iraq as depleted uranium projectiles, still continue to damage whose expo sed to it until now.
The aerosol produced during impact and combustion of depleted uranium munitions can potentially contaminate wide areas around the impact sites or can be inhaled by persons in this regions.
This stud / an attempt to estimate the concentration in air and deposition rate ot DU aerosol after impact of DU munitions during the war period, exactly in Jan.
1991.
This well be important in calculations the doses delivered by persons in the war region and neighboring towns.
All estimations by using a model, derived irom Gaussian plume model describes the motion of pollutants plume rising after impact ot DU munitions and release of aerosol cloud to atmosphere.
Foun I that maximum values of concentrations and deposition rate of DU aerosol within the first distances (0-5000 m) from the impact sites.
These values will decrease for the oMier distances.
The doses delivered by civilians and military exceed the international limits.
This a good indicator to consider DU aerosol inhalation mam reason in appearance the cancers among the people.
The results of this study important in the follow-up studies of cancers rising among publics exposed to radioactive doses, to evaluate the number of persons whose possible to have cancers.
