The paper deals with characters of nine species belong to the genus Senecio L.
in Iraq, based on comparative morphology of all vegetative and reproductive parts.
The taxonomic importance of each character was discussed.
Most of species have been investigated for the first time.

cineraria is reported for the first time for Iraq.
