قام العديد من الفلاسفة و المفكرين بدراسة أسباب نشأة الدولة و ظهورها و مفهومها و أشكالها و العديد من الجوانب المتعلقة بإشكالياتها المختلفة، و من أبرز من اهتم بدراسة هذا الموضوع من الفلاسفة القدماء نجد الفيلسوف الكبير أرسطو في كتابه (السياسة) و الفيلسوف الشهير أفلاطون، و العديد من فلاسفة مدرسة العقد الاجتماعي، أما عربيا و إسلاميا فمن أبرز من اهتم بدراسة موضوع السياسة نجد العلامة أبو زيد عبد الرحمن بن محمد بن خلدون إضافة إلى الفارابي، و سنستعرض في هذا المقال نظرة ابن خلدون المتعلقة بالدولة من حيث تعريفها و أسباب نشأتها و أطوارها المختلفة مركزين على مصادر التنظير التي تميز بها بن خلدون عن سابقيه ما هو الجديد الذي قدمه هذا المفكر الفذ مقارنة بسابقيه، معإبراز هذه الأفكار و النظريات حتى على مستويات الفكر السياسي المعاصر حاليا

Many philosophers and thinkers have studied the reasons for the emergence of the state, its emergence, its concept, its forms, and many aspects related to its various problems, and among the most prominent ancient philosophers who were interested in studying this topic, we find the great philosopher Aristotle in his book (Politics) and the philosopher Plato, and many philosophers of the School of the Social Contract, As for Arand Islamists, one of the most prominent people interested in studying the topic of politics, we find the scholar Abu Zayd Abd al-Rahman bin Muhammad Ibin Khaldun in addition to al-Farabi.
