International cooperation in Malaysian higher education

Abstract EN

The aim of this study is to focus on international cooperation in Malaysian higher education sector, which knew an important expansion in the last decade, and in order to explore the different levels of international cooperation in Malaysian HEIs, we used a qualitative approach.

And we found that Malaysian higher education sector became one of the leading higher education sectors in the southeast Asia region, besides that Malaysian HEIs are now an attractive destination for international students, due to the internationalization of the higher education sector which impacted HEIs and imposed many changes on their functions and made them adapt to international standards.
