Abstract EN

The standards of the Basel Committee on banking supervision have been universally accepted and widely spread internationally.

They seek to upgrade and stabilize the global banking system.

However, most developing countries have not been able to apply all of these standards despite their various attempts.

Therefore, this study aimed to find out the extent to which the Basel Committee standards are appropriate for banking systems in developing countries in general and Algeria in particular.

This study concluded that the Basel Committee standards do not totally fit the banking systems of developing countries, since these systems differ from the banking systems of developed countries, which has established these standards according to their banking environment and needs.
