If the world had been monolingual and monocultural, the need for translation would cease to exist.

What once was a refusal for translating poetry in order to sustain linguistic and cultural legacy was soon transformed into a prosperity, established by cultural differences and a genuine desire to explore the "different other"; thus ending the longstanding and ongoing dilemma of poetry translation.

Specialists were able to determine the struggles of translating poetry, sorting them into two categories.

The first being related to language, as the poetry components are unique and special.

The second one being related to cultural dimensions which for the most part poems are brimming with.

The first obstacle doesn't really present itself as an impossible thing for the translator to overcome as all languages are able to express themselves, the means may differ but the linguistic equivalent can always be reached.

It's the second one regarding the cultural translation that's exhausting to the translator, mentally to say the least; as the translated poem appeals to the reader according to his personal unique culture or in other words the impact of the poem on its reader is directly related to his cultural preferences.

Based on what preceded, the following questions must be asked: Will the impact stay intact when the translated culture is delivered to the targeted reader? Should the translator stick to the original poem's culture, transferring it to the targeted reader or should he rather adapt the cultural adaptation according to the targeted reader's culture? What are the suitable method(s) for translating culture? This article consists of an attempt to highlight the importance of cultural dimensions in poetry translation in addition to the procedures of transfer, suggested to help translators with their task.
