Abstract EN

This research deals with the problematic of the translation of the Islamic terms in the Holy Qur’an, since the selection of inaccurate terms may affect the understanding of the Holy Qur’an and for Islam in general.

the two strategies of domestication and foreignization termed by Lawrence Venuti treat the problematic of translating the meanings of the Holy Qur’an and address its words that have semantic-specificity.

this research draws a comparison between several translations of selected verses from the Holy Qur’an that contain terms of worship with special Islamic jurisprudential concepts in order to assess the effectiveness of the strategies of domestication and foreignization in helping the translator to find the appropriate equivalent of the translated term.

we concluded that foreignization is the best strategy for translating Islamic terms through transliteration of the term and providing it along with an explanation in the target language.
