The current research targets the effectiveness of the options board strategy (x-o) in the achievement of middle school students and the development of their metacognitive skills.

In order to achieve the objectives of the research, the researcher selected a sample for an experimental application consisting of (69) students distributed between two groups, the experimental group that studied the scientific material using the strategy of the options panel (xo) and the control group that studied the same material in the traditional way.

The researcher rewarded the members of the two groups with a set of variables (test Intelligence, chronological age, prior knowledge and metacognition skills) The researcher prepared an achievement test consisting of (32) items of a multiple choice type, while he adopted the metacognition skills scale for the researcher (Jassim, 2016) consisting of (42) items, and the researcher used the statistical bag (spss) In order to obtain the accurate results, the experimental group students who study the material using the options board method (xo) outperform the control group students who study the same subject on the traditional method
