Abstract EN

The article discusses the repressive mechanisms for implementation of international humanitarian law because it is applied in armed conflicts in which the most heinous crimes are committed that pose a threat to the international community, regardless of whether these conflicts are international or non-international.

therefore, it becomes necessary to activate the rules of this law as a result of the massive development the world wide witnesses in all the international levels, especially the international judiciary.

accordingly, this study came to talk about the oppressive mechanisms for humanitarian international law which is based on protection of human beings and the environment they live in by recognizing the international criminal responsibility on the individual and ensuring fair compensation for war victims who have been subjected to the cruelty of war.

this has been committed by many international agreements, primarily, the four Geneva conventions of 1949, the two additional protocols annexed to these conventions and the statute of the international criminal court.

the research used in this study the legal method thus he reached a set of results, the most important is that the general knowledge of the international humanitarian law is necessary for the effectiveness of its implementation.

in addition, the study made a number of recommendations, the most important is assigning military leaders to prevent the commission of serious violations and work to halt them if they are committed.
