This article aims to analyse the reality of governance in Algeria.

Accordingly, we conducted a thorough study of all the efforts made by the Algerian government on this matter between1999 and 2019, with reference to earlier periods.

The results of this study revealed the failure of the efforts spent to establish principles of good governance because of the wide spread of corruption amongst governmental institutions, which wore out its main frameworks.

This is reflected in the governance criteria established by international organizations, unlike the World Bank.
