Arabic Abstract
تبحث هذه الدراسة في التحديات الأكثر شيوعًا التي يواجهها مترجمو الشرطة عند ترجمة مصطلحات الشرطة وتعابيرها من الإنجليزية إلى العربية في الأردن.
إضافة لذلك تبحث هذه الدراسة الصعوبات التي يواجهها مترجمو الشرطة وفقًا للاختلاف في اللغة الانجليزية مثل الإنجليزية البريطانية والإنجليزية الأمريكية.
ولتحقيق هذه الأهداف ، تم اختيار عينة عشوائية من (20) من المترجمين العاملين في الشرطة وأداروا اختبار ترجمة من الإنجليزية إلى العربية ، وطلب منهم ترجمة نصين ، النص الأول الذي يتضمن مصطلحات خاصة بالشرطة البريطانية موزعة على عشرة مترجمين وكما هو الحال للنص الثاني والذي يتضمن مصطلحات خاصة بالشرطة الأمريكية للعشرة مترجمين الآخرين.
تشير نتائج الدراسة إلى أن الصعوبات والمشكلات الأكثر شيوعًا التي تواجه المترجمين العاملين في القطاع الشرطي معنية بدقة الاختيار المعاني المصطلحات الشرطية وفقًا للاختلافات المعجمية بين BE و AE.
اتضح من ذلك مواجهة المترجمين لمشكلات كبيرة عند ترجمة المصطلحات والتعابير الشرطية.
English Abstract
This study examines the most common challenges which face Police translators when translating police terms and expressions from English into Arabic in Jordan.
Moreover, it investigates the problem which face police translators according to English variation as British English and American English.
To achieve these goals, a sample of (20) male and female police translators were selected and administrated an English into Arabic translation test and were asked to translate two text the first text which includes special British police terms given to ten translators the second as well which includes special American police terms for other ten translators .
The results of the study indicate that the most prevalent difficulties and problems faced by police professional translators are concerned with the use of accurate Arabic counter parts for the policing terms according the lexical differences between BE and AE.
It turns out that the translators face serious problems when dealing with police terms and expressions.
