Abstract EN
One of the new developments in construction and architecture is 3D Printing with a concrete-like material.
This technique can create the opportunity for personalization of large-scale projects for the lower and middle class since it removes the restrictions on shape, that are present in the traditional way of building.
The technology also has shown potential in a wide range of disciplines, but the building industry is still behind in the development of 3D printing.
The influence of 3D printing in building industry must not be underestimated as it can reduce various determining factors such as the construction process, material costs and the time span of the whole project.
By studying new printable materials and optimizing shapes including the typical properties of 3D printed concrete, the potential of this promising technique can be realized in practice.
This research focuses on the background of this new technique, potential applications and future of 3D Concrete Printing.
