Abstract EN

This research investigates the position of Muslim leaders on the invasion of Syria and Egypt by the Ilkhans (Mongols of Persia).

It focuses particularly on the attitudes of the most renowned Muslim leaders in the epoch of the first Mamluk Dynasty, namely: Sheikh ‘Izzdin ben ‘Abdussalam, Sheikh Ben Daqiq al ‘Eid, and Sheikh Al-islam Ibn Taymiah.

They have been chosen inasmuch as their positions represented those of the religious and public communities on the Ilkhan invasion and contradicted the position of the Mamluk Sultan and his retinue.
