Abstract EN

The study aims to develop a proposed vision for the internal audit of the environmental management system, while highlighting the role of the internal auditor when reviewing environmental management tools for activities and operations with a view to environmental institutional excellence and sustainable development of institutions, when reviewing the environmental management system, with application to one of the companies operating in the oil sector.

The study found that there is an effective role for the internal auditor to use these tools, especially when reviewing the environmental management system with the possibility of expanding in future to the objectives of environmental leadership in the business through the use of the rest of the environmental tools, where only three tools were focused on: (Environmental Management System - Environmental Review - Environmental Performance Evaluation) The study also found that these tools can support the methodology of environmental excellence to achieve sustainable development.

The study recommended several recommendations, including: the need to increase the scope and expand it to include either new administrative systems or even the emergence of new stakeholders, applying the principles of entrepreneurship on a new departments or new operations that the company intends to enter into.
