Russia sought to achieve peter the Great's Strategy، represented in "necessity of reaching warm waters"، to break the serious seige of winter، due to its icy waters.

Being failed to realize this in Persia، Russia turned its sight to Muscat on the other shore of the Arabian Gulf.

Russia thought of Muscat as an outpost to its inffuence and interests in the Arabian Gulf.

At first، the Russian activities in Muscat and neighbouring are as، were of commercial nature، that hide deep political intentions.

Then turned to be cleasly political، when the Russian established their consulate in Muscat، and began to send envoys and officials as well.

Furthermore، Some units of the Russian fleet pay continuous visit to Muscat too.

But these Russian activities were considered as distributing and interests in the region.

That is why they (the British) responded violently after wards.
