The COVID-19 pandemic has caused many negative repercussions for the African Union, either by imposing the health crisis on African countries, or by disrupting the efforts of the African Union to accelerate political and economic integration and restore stability on the continent.

The African Union suffers from an acute shortage of resources to deal with major crises.

Nevertheless, the African Union tried to utilize all available resources to limit the negative effects of the pandemic.

Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC), the public health agency of the African Union has played great roles in supporting African countries in implementing the necessary measures to limit the spread of the COVID-19.

The African Union has contracted 400 million doses, which will be added to the doses that will be provided through COVID-19 Vaccines Global Access (COVAX).

However, the African Union still needs to exert more effort to provide vaccines in appropriate and timely quantities, as the number of vaccines already contracted covers only a fifth of the African continent's population of more than a billion people.

On this basis, the paper seeks to answer a question regarding the extent to which the African Union has succeeded to manage COVID-19 crisis, by depending on data published by World Health Organization, African union and Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention.
