Abstract EN

Upton Sinclair is generally considered as one of the main American socialists and his commitment to the anti-communist cause, as well as his rejection of all labels including that of socialist after the Second World War, is something of an enigma.

The aim of this article is to shed light on the coherence of his attitude and the internal logic of his commitment in the 1950s.

This implies considering Sinclair as a fundamental individualist who advocated social justice in the same way that the Founding Fathers advocated a reasonable revolution.
